Housekeeping

• Snack Everyday
• Water Bottles
• Label Snow stuff (snow pants, hat, gloves and
  boots)
• Scholastic book orders- checks only. You can
  order online.
• Classroom PartiesThere is a sign up sheet if you
  would like to help
• Parent conferences-Please sign up before you
  leave. (Dec. 2 , Dec. 2 (night), and Dec. 8)
• Web page- I have added good websites to help the
  students practice math facts
• Birthday Celebrations- We are a peanut free
  class. Please send in a packaged birthday snack!

• Read 20 minutes every night
• Spelling Practice
• Math Practice
• Friday Writing Log
• Sign Planner every night- this is a great way for
  us to communicate

Lead 21

• Spelling Lists-the student works on a skill for
  the week
• There are different themes that we will cover
  each unit. We will start with Changes.

NYS ELA TEST Some Answers to your Questions

• WHO? Every 3rd grade student in New York State
• What? The test consists of 3 Sections Reading
  Comprehension, Vocabulary and Reading/Writing
• Why? To find out our strengths and weaknesses in
  ELA
• Test Dates? April 5, 6, and 7

Handwriting

• We will be practicing our handwriting
• We will learn all our cursive letters
• The students will each receive a handwriting
  book.

Math

• The district adopted Envision Math. This
  program helps align with the common core. I will
  send home math homework after I taught the
  lesson. I will let the students know when they
  will have a test so they can review at home.
  You can always do the re-teaching side of the
  math sheet to help your son/daughter before they
  complete the practice side.
• NYS Math Test Dates April 13, 14, 15
• Practicing flash cards is very valuable.
