Title: Natural Disasters and Signs 2014

Natural Disasters and Signs 2014
2013 was hottest year on record in Australia
ABC News, January 3, 2014
Australia has just sweltered through its hottest
year on record, according to the Bureau of
Meteorology. Average temperatures were 1.20
degrees Celsius above the long-term average of
21.8C, breaking the previous record set in 2005
by 0.17C, the bureau said in its Annual Climate
Statement. All states and territories recorded
above average temperatures in 2013, with Western
Australia, Northern Territory and South Australia
all breaking annual average temperature
records. And every month of 2013 had national
average temperatures at least 0.5C above normal,
according to the statement. The country recorded
its hottest day on January 7 - a month which also
saw the hottest week and hottest month since
records began in 1910. A new record was set for
the number of consecutive days the national
average temperature exceeded 39C seven days
between January 2 and 8, 2013, almost doubling
the previous record of four consecutive days in
1973. The highest temperature recorded during
2013 was 49.6C at Moomba in South Australia.

2013 saw some amazing signs and wonders in the
heaven above and the earth beneath. From
quick-striking monster typhoons to slow-onset
drought, natural disasters impacted the lives of
millions of people around the world in 2013.
Typhoon Haiyan tore through the central
Philippines November 8, killing nearly 6,000
people. It was the strongest storm ever to have
hit land. Just 3 weeks before the same place was
hit by an earthquake that killed 222 people. In
February an earthquake caused a tsunami in the
Solomon islands. In the heavens we saw a meteor
over Russia that exploded with 30 times more
force than the Hiroshima bomb. It shone brighter
than the sun! Just 16 hours later a second
asteroid approached close to earth. What will we
see in 2014?!

  • And I will show wonders in heaven above, and
signs in the earth beneath blood, and fire, and
vapour of smoke The sun shall be turned into
darkness, and the moon into blood, before that
great and notable day of the Lord come And it
shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on
the name of the Lord shall be saved.

(Acts 219-20)
Is our Sun falling silent?
BBConline, January 18, 2014
"I've been a solar physicist for 30 years, and
I've never seen anything quite like this," says
Richard Harrison, head of space physics at the
Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire. He
shows me recent footage captured by spacecraft
that have their sights trained on our star. The
Sun is revealed in exquisite detail, but its face
is strangely featureless. "If you want to go back
to see when the Sun was this inactive... you've
got to go back about 100 years," he says. This
solar lull is baffling scientists, because right
now the Sun should be awash with activity. It has
reached its solar maximum, the point in its
11-year cycle where activity is at a peak. This
giant ball of plasma should be peppered with
sunspots, exploding with flares and spewing out
huge clouds of charged particles into space in
the form of coronal mass ejections.

Jesus said there would be signs in the sun, moon
and stars. Upon the earth distress of nations
with perplexity. The sea and waves roaring. These
things are both physical and literal. But also
symbolic and spiritual. In other words we have
seen the literal sea and waves roaring with
incredible tsunamis. But we have also seen
revolution and war as people symbolically crash
against each other like violent waves. The Bible
refers to people fighting like waves in a storm.
We even use the phrase nowadays a sea of
people. We have reports this week about the sun
acting very strangely. Scientists say that the
drop off in the suns activity is happening
surprisingly quickly. They are now watching
closely to see if it will continue to plummet.
"It could mean a very, very inactive star, it
would feel like the Sun is asleep. says Dr Lucie
Green, from University College London's Mullard
Space Science Laboratory. The decline in activity
is the fastest that has been seen in 10,000
years. What does this mean? Its another sign.

  • I will show wonders in the heavens and on the
earth, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The
sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to
blood before the coming of the great and dreadful
day of the Lord. And everyone who calls on the
name of the Lord will be saved

(Joel 2332 NIV)
Epochal' drought hits California's Central
Daily Telegraph, February 14, 2014
On the road into the small California farming
community of Mendota the signs read Stop dust
bowl! and Save Water as farmers in orchards
are busy bulldozing withered almond trees. It
didnt used to be like this here. Until recently
this town of 11,000 people was proudly known as
the Cantaloupe Capital of the World. Of all the
many local crops its melons were most prized.
Mendotas farmers have been growing them since
the 1920s, when Greek immigrants arrived and
found the soil was perfect. The lush fields used
to provide 70 per cent of Americas cantaloupes.
But today Mendota is becoming known for another
reason. It sits at ground zero in an unfolding,
slow motion billion dollar disaster, what
climatologists are calling an epochal drought.
The region is experiencing a lack of rain not
seen since 1580.

The scale of the drought is staggering. The
Central Valley is known as the breadbasket of
America and covers a vast area half the size of
England. It produces 50 per cent of the fruit and
vegetables in the United Sates. Unlike recent
hurricanes and floods in the US there have been
few startling images of this disaster. It is
taking place over such a huge area that it is
impossible to capture in the frame of a
television screen. Records have been kept since
the 1840s and last year was the driest yet. Some
farm areas received less rain than Death Valley
in 2013. The lesson of drought is made clear in
the book of Job. Drought and heat consume the
snow waters so doth the grave those which have
sinned. If we sin we are consumed by the grave
as drought and heat consume water. As America
pushes Israel to give up their land so we see
Americas own land being devastated by drought.
God - we read in the verse below uses drought to
judge a country. Its global warning not global

  • Son of man, suppose the people of a country were
to sin against me, and I lifted my fist to crush
them, cutting off their food supply and sending a
famine to destroy both people and animals. Even
if Noah, Daniel, and Job were there, their
righteousness would save no one but themselves,
    says the Sovereign Lord.

8.2 magnitude earthquake strikes northern Chile
Daily Telegraph, April 2, 2014
Five people were killed when a powerful magnitude
8.2 earthquake struck off northern Chile on
Tuesday night, setting off a small tsunami that
forced the evacuation of the country's entire
Pacific coast. In the city of Antofagasta, 855
miles (1,375 kilometres) north of the Chilean
capital, a tsunami warning siren rang out after
the quake hit to evacuate people from coastal
areas. In the city of Arica, people and cars
could also be seen flooding onto the streets to
move to higher ground. In nearby Peru, terrified
people in the city of Arequipa ran onto the
streets. Local residents could be standing around
on the city's pavements holding their belongings.
The US Geological Survey initially reported the
quake at 8.0, but later upgraded the magnitude.
It said the quake struck 61 miles (99 kilometres)
northwest of the Chilean city of Iquique at 846
p.m. (2346 GMT) hitting a region that has been
rocked by numerous quakes over the past two weeks.
A small 2 metre high tsunami was caused when this
powerful earthquake struck near Chile this week.
There have been two fairly large earthquakes in
the Los Angeles area. About 150 aftershocks,
including one of magnitude-4.1, were felt since
Friday night's quake. Also this week A volcano
in Peru that has not erupted in four decades
spewed ash skyward on Tuesday. Peru's geological
and mining agency (Ingemmet) said lava had been
building up in recent weeks, and warned locals
they should prepare for the possibility of more
evacuations. Ecuador's Tungurahua volcano spewed
molten rocks and large clouds of gas and ash near
Banos, south of Quito, on Friday. Jesus said we
would see earthquakes in divers places. The Greek
word for divers places is also translated as
coast. We are seeing earthquakes along the
coastlines. We understand now that tectonic
plates often run alongside a coastline. Jesus

  • Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against
    nation, and kingdom against kingdom
  • And great earthquakes shall be in divers places,
and famines, and pestilences and fearful sights
and great signs shall there be from heaven.

Israel to miss out on Blood Moon
Israel Today, April 13, 2014
The scheduled appearance of four total lunar
eclipses on major Jewish holidays between this
Monday night (the start of Passover 2014) and
September 27, 2015 (the start of Sukkot) has the
attention of much of the Christian world. But the
eclipses are going to go almost totally unseen in
Israel. Total lunar eclipses - what are often
referred to as blood moons - are not uncommon,
13 of them having occurred since 2000. Somewhat
less common are tetrads - four consecutive total
lunar eclipses with no intervening partial
eclipses - which has occurred 62 times since the
year 0 AD. Seven times in the past 2000 years, a
tetrad has coincided perfectly with Passover and
Sukkot. One of those tetrads began just prior to
the outbreak of the Six Day War in 1967. Two
others (in 1493 and 1949) began more than a year
after the expulsion of the Jews from Spain and
the State of Israels declaration of
independence, respectively.
On Monday night there was the first of 4 blood
moons. A sequence of 4 lunar eclipses. Lunar
eclipses are fairly common. A series of 4 total
lunar eclipses is not common. A series of 4
consecutive lunar eclipses is called a Tetrad.
What is even less common is when the 4
consecutive lunar eclipses fall on Jewish feast
days. Eg Passover or Sukkot (Feast of
Tabernacles). This set of 4 is only the 8th set
since the time of Christ. The last time a Tetrad
occurred was in 1967. The first blood moon
occurred just months before the outbreak of the 6
Day War. The time before was in 1949 again
during the war that broke out after Israel was
declared a nation in 1948. The time before that
was in 1493. In 1492 the Jews were expelled from
Spain. We know God uses the sun and moon for
signs. We also know that blood moons are a sign
at the time of the end.

  • And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and
signs in the earth beneath blood, and fire, and
vapour of smoke The sun shall be turned into
darkness, and the moon into blood, before that
great and notable day of the Lord come And it
shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on
the name of the Lord shall be saved.

US Tornadoes, dust storms and floods
Reuters, April 30, 2014
The worst floods in decades deluged roads and
engulfed homes and cars in Florida's Panhandle
and coastal Alabama on Wednesday, the latest
mayhem created by a tornado-packing storm system
that has killed at least 34 people this week.
Florida Governor Rick Scott declared a state of
emergency for 26 counties inundated by as much as
two feet of relentless rain over a 24-hour
period, as severe thunderstorms raced across the
northern part of the state. Emergency workers
evacuated about 200 people in the Panhandle,
Scott told reporters at an emergency operations
center south of Tallahassee. "This is devastating
to this part of the state," he told CNN. "No-one
anticipated it would just keep on raining and
raining and raining ... We thought it was going
to move on out. "There have been 27 confirmed
weather-related deaths and more than 200 people
reported injured across Arkansas and Mississippi,
as tornadoes reduced homes to rubble, shredded
trees and launched vehicles into the air.

A week of ' freak extreme ' weather events has
battered the United States . . . devastating
tornados twisters that killed over 35 people
torrential rainfall hail in many regions on a
biblical scale epic flooding that swept away
roads homes raging wildfires in California.
These cascading events come just as America's top
international diplomat , Secretary of State ,
John Kerry has been caught describing
long-standing ally Israel , as an ' apartheid
state ' further confirming the Obama
Administration's rising hostility towards God's
people. As these forces ' of nature ' continue
to punish the USA for its abandonment of Israel ,
we know it's merely a foretaste of greater
judgments to come as the Holy One of Israel
unleashes his judgments on mankind , before
establishing His righteous eternal kingdom on
  • Behold , the LORD will come with fire with his
chariots like a whirlwind , to render his anger
with fury his rebuke with flames of fire. For
by fire by his sword will the LORD plead with
all flesh the slain of the LORD shall be
many. For I know their works their thoughts
it shall come , that I will gather all nations
tongues they shall come see my glory

'Unprecedented' wildfires in California
CNN, May 17, 2014
Firefighters in San Diego County continued their
four-day assault Friday evening against several
wildfires that so far have scorched more than 31
square miles. Meanwhile, investigators filed an
arson charge in one small fire in the county. The
fires were extraordinary for their number so
early in the year and for how close they came to
residential and business areas, even torching
several structures. Thousands of firefighters
used air tankers, specially equipped DC-10s and
military helicopter to douse the flames this
week. A more-than-3,000-acre fire in San Marcos
was all but out of control with only 10
containment Friday, authorities said. When Elisha
Exon saw towers of smoke looming over her San
Marcos, California, home, she knew it was time to
go. The only problem All the nearby places she'd
normally take her family in an emergency were
threatened by fire, too.
This week USA Today had these words to
say..Massive wildfires are on the increase in
the Western USA due to rising temperatures and
worsening drought from climate change, and the
trend could continue in the decades to come, new
research suggests. Overall, the number of large
wildfires increased by a rate of seven fires a
year from 1984 to 2011, while the total area
damaged by fire increased at a rate of nearly
90,000 acres per year, according to the study,
published this week in Geophysical Research
Letters, a journal of the American Geophysical
Union (AGU). The study comes against the backdrop
of what could to be a disastrous year for fires
in the West, especially drought-plagued
California, which even saw fires in the normally
quiet month of January. The Bible speaks of
pillars of smoke and final judgement by fire at
the end

  • And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the
earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The
sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon
into blood, before the great and the terrible day
of the LORD come. And it shall come to pass, that
whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD
    shall be delivered

'Biggest dinosaur ever' discovered
BBC News , May 17, 2014
Behemoth Brachiosaurus Dinosaur
Fossilised bones of a dinosaur believed to be the
largest creature ever to walk the Earth have been
unearthed in Argentina, palaeontologists say.
Based on its huge thigh bones, it was 40m (130ft)
long and 20m (65ft) tall. Weighing in at 77
tonnes, it was as heavy as 14 African elephants,
and seven tonnes heavier than the previous record
holder, Argentinosaurus. Scientists believe it is
a new species of titanosaur - an enormous
herbivore dating from the Late Cretaceous
period. A local farm worker first stumbled on the
remains in the desert near La Flecha, about 250km
(135 miles) west of Trelew, Patagonia. The
fossils were then excavated by a team of
palaeontologists from the Museum of Palaeontology
Egidio Feruglio, led by Dr Jose Luis Carballido
and Dr Diego Pol. They unearthed the partial
skeletons of seven individuals - about 150 bones
in total - all in "remarkable condition
Lots of people ask so when did the dinosaurs
live? The answer is simple. After creation.
Dinosaurs walked the earth not millions of years
ago but at the same time as man before the
flood. The Bible tells you about dinosaurs! The
Behemoth in Job 4015-24. It eats grass like an
ox. It moves his tail like a cedar. (In
Hebrew, this literally reads, he lets hang his
tail like a cedar.).Its bones are like beams of
bronze, His ribs like bars of iron. He is the
first of the ways of God. He lies under the
lotus trees, In a covert of reeds and marsh.
This is not an elephant or hippo which have short
tails like a pig. It is a dinosaur - a type of
Brachiosaurus. Leviathan is another dinosaur. It
was a tall creature, raises himself up, makes a
big wake in the water. This is not a crocodile.
It is probably some type of Elasmosaurus. The
clincher is that human footprints have been found
alongside dino fossil tracks by the Paluxy River
in Texas.

  • Take a look at Behemoth, which I made, just as I
made you. It eats grass like an ox. See its
powerful loins and the muscles of its belly. Its
tail is as strong as a cedar. The sinews of its
thighs are knit tightly together. Its bones are
tubes of bronze. Its limbs are bars of iron. It
is a prime example of Gods handiwork, and only
    its Creator can threaten it.
    It goes
on to say no one can put a ring on its nose and
lead it away it existed when man existed

Ebola outbreak We're heading towards a
Daily Telegraph, August 1, 2014
The health chief leading the fight against the
Ebola outbreak in West Africa has warned it was
spiralling out of control towards a
catastrophic epidemic that could engulf the
region. Margaret Chan, director general of the
World Health Organisation, said the response to
the disease had been woefully inadequate and it
was moving faster than our efforts to control
it. Her warnings - the starkest to date - were
delivered to the leaders of Guinea, Sierra Leone
and Liberia as they held a crisis summit to
discuss how to curb the crisis, which has now
claimed at least 729 lives. If the situation
continues to deteriorate, the consequences can be
catastrophic in terms of lost lives but also
severe socio-economic disruption and a high risk
of spread to other countries, Dr Chan said,
according to a transcript seen by the Reuters
news agency of her remarks to the summit in the
Guinean capital, Conakry.
Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, president of Liberia, said
there was now fear and panic across the country,
adding There are dead bodies all over the place
and they now know that its real. They know that
its deadly and they are now beginning to
respond. Ebola disease was first identified in
1976 and until 2013, fewer than 500 people a year
have been infected. This year has seen the
largest outbreak and its on-going. As of July
2014 more than 1320 cases have occurred. Efforts
are on-going to develop a vaccine however, none
currently exists. Jesus describes the time
before he would return. He said For nation shall
rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom
and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and
earthquakes, in divers places. A pestilence
include plague. We are seeing the people rising
up against people and nation against nation. We
also see increasing plague

  • what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the
end of the world? And Jesus answered and said
unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you..And
ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars see
that ye be not troubled for all these things
must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For
nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom
against kingdom and there shall be famines, and
pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

(Matthew 243-7)
WHO declares Ebola epidemic a global
Daily Telegraph, August 1, 2014
Nigeria became the latest country to declare a
national emergency over the deadly Ebola virus on
Friday, as the World Health Organisation called
the epidemic that has claimed nearly 1,000 lives
a global health crisis. Nigerian President
Goodluck Jonathan ordered the immediate release
of 1.9 billion naira (11.7 million, 8.7 million
euros) to fund the fight against the disease as
Africa's most populous nation confirmed two more
Ebola cases, bringing the total number of
infections to nine -- including two deaths. The
WHO appealed for international aid to help
afflicted countries after a rare meeting of the
UN health body's emergency committee, which urged
screening of all people flying out of affected
countries in west Africa. It stopped short of
calling for global travel restrictions, urging
airlines to take strict precautions but to
continue flying to the west African countries hit
by the outbreak.

The Ebola virus continues to spread and so does
the fear. The problem now is one of food - the
prices are soaring as the markets have been
closed and all public gatherings are banned. On
Wednesday everyone in Sierra Leone had to stay in
their houses. Everyone is very afraid.  In
Liberia bodies are being dumped in the streets so
that relatives are not identified and taken into
isolation. Through ignorance they dont
understand that they are just making matters much
worse, as the chances are that they are also
infected after coming into contact with an
infected corpse. Our brothers and sisters that
live in these areas desperately need our prayers.
We are surely living at the very time of the end
as we see terrible plagues like this. Creation is
  • For we know that the whole creation groaneth and
travaileth in pain together until now.
  • And not only they, but ourselves also, which have
the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves
groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption,
to wit, the redemption of our body.

California hit by biggest earthquake in 25 years
Daily Telegraph, August 24, 2014
A strong 6.0-magnitude earthquake jolted
California awake early on Sunday morning causing
massive damage to the wine region of Napa
Valley. Three people were in a critical condition
including two adults and a child and a total of
87 people were treated in hospital. Barry Martin,
community outreach coordinator for the City of
Napa, said there were no reports of any
fatalities. The quake struck at 320 am (1020
GMT) northwest of American Canyon, California.
Jerry Brown, the Governor of California, declared
a state of emergency in Napa County. The US
Geological Survey said the tremor was located at
a depth of just 6.7 miles below the surface. The
power was out in Napa, about six miles from the
earthquake's epicenter, as well as in other towns
and cities nearby, affecting more than 10,000
households, according to the Pacific Gas and
Electric Company.
Peru, California, Chile and Iceland have all been
hit by notable earthquakes in 2014, which has
some wondering whether there have been an
unusually large amount of strong earthquakes this
year. The rate of major earthquakes -- those with
a magnitude higher than 7.0 -- more than doubled
in the first quarter of 2014 compared with the
average since 1979, according to a paper
published in the journal Geophysical Research
Letters in June by Tom Parsons and Eric L. Geist
of the U.S. Geological Survey. Jesus said that we
would see nation rise against nation (better
translated multitudes against multitudes ie
revolutions) and kingdom against kingdom. AND we
would see great earthquakes in divers places. We
are surely seeing all this happening NOW.

  • Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against
    nation, and kingdom against kingdom
  • And great earthquakes shall be in divers places,
and famines, and pestilences and fearful sights
and great signs shall there be from heaven.

UN 'nightmare scenario' as Ebola spreads to the
Daily Telegraph, October 2, 2014
The number of people infected with Ebola is
doubling every 20 to 30 days, and the US Centre
for Disease Control and Prevention has forecast
that there could be as many as 1.4m cases of
Ebola by January, in the worst case scenario.
More than 3,300 people have been killed by the
disease this year. Mr Banbury, who has served in
the UN since 1988, said that the epidemic was the
worst disaster he had ever witnessed. We have
never seen anything like it. In a career working
in these kinds of situations, wars, natural
disasters I have never seen anything as serious
or dangerous or high risk as this one. Ive heard
other people saying this as well, senior figures
who are not being alarmist. Behind closed doors,
they are saying they have never seen anything as
bad, he said.

The Ebola epidemic is getting out of control. A
Liberian man became the first person to be
diagnosed with the deadly Ebola virus on US soil.
This case in the US is thought to be the first
outside West Africa involving this strain of
Ebola. Ebola has a very high mortality rate of
between 50 and 90. Ebola is a gruesome disease
that causes cells in the body to self-destruct,
resulting in massive internal and external
bleeding. In its late stages, Ebola can cause the
victim to experience convulsions, vomiting and
bleeding from the eyes and ears while convulsing,
flinging blood all over the room and anyone
standing nearby, thereby infecting those people
as well. Jesus said before he returned we would
see pestilences (epidemics) and fearful sights.
We are seeing fearful sights that cause terror
as we see this particular plague spread
  • Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against
    nation, and kingdom against kingdom
  • And great earthquakes shall be in divers places,
and famines, and pestilences and fearful sights
and great signs shall there be from heaven.
Though distressing we know these things must
happen they are the prelude to the Lords return

(Luke 2110-11)
10,000 new Ebola cases per week could be seen
Associated Press, October 14, 2014
West Africa could face up to 10,000 new Ebola
cases a week within two months, the World Health
Organization warned Tuesday, adding that the
death rate in the current outbreak has risen to
70 percent. WHO assistant director-general Dr.
Bruce Aylward gave the grim figures during a news
conference in Geneva. Previously, the agency had
estimated the Ebola mortality rate at around 50
percent overall. In contrast, in events such as
flu pandemics, the death rate is typically under
2 percent. Acknowledging that Ebola was "a high
mortality disease," Aylward said the U.N. health
agency was still focused on trying to get sick
people isolated and provide treatment as early as
possible. He told reporters if the world's
response to the Ebola crisis isn't stepped up
within 60 days, "a lot more people will die" and
health workers will be stretched even further.
Experts say the epidemic is doubling in size
about every three weeks.
Its incredible that in World War 1, 17 million
soldiers and civilians were killed in
battle. What is even more incredible is that as
World War 1 ended in 1918 a deadly illness took
hold around the world which killed an estimated
50 million people. It was the Spanish Influenza
it killed 3 times as many as the world war. It is
still the largest and most destructive pandemic
in recorded history. Average life expectancy
dropped by 12 years in America. We know another
world war is coming. In fact a war to eclipse all
wars. And in the making is another pandemic that
could potentially be even more catastrophic than
the flu pandemic. We read in Isaiah 24 that
terrible judgement is coming on the world. It
will effect all people rich and poor. And when
it is over few men will be left We surely need
to be on Gods side.NOW.

  • The earth suffers for the sins of its people, for
they have twisted Gods instructions, violated
his laws, and broken his everlasting covenant.
Therefore, a curse consumes the earth. Its people
must pay the price for their sin. Therefore the
inhabitants of the earth are scorched and
parched, and only a few are left alive..Lord of
Hosts will rule on Mount Zion. He will rule in
    great glory in Jerusalem,

Ebola Famine approaches bringing fresh nightmare
Independent, October 16, 2014
Sierra Leones fields are without farmers. Its
crops go un-reaped. In the quarantine areas,
feeding is patchy some get food, others dont.
People then leave the enforced isolation in
search of a meal, so Ebola spreads. In three West
African countries where many already live a
hand-to-mouth existence, the act of eating is
increasingly rare. Ebola, the virus that has
ravaged Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea at an
unprecedented rate, continues its devastating
spread. The number of dead doubles with each
passing month the bodies unburied. More lives
are devastated with each passing day. And in the
absence of a mass-produced vaccine, its treatment
enforced isolation, mass quarantines now
threatens to bring a new crisis starvation.
