Today is Read Across America, an annual
project of the National Education Association ,
which began in 1997. Its purpose is to motivate
kids to read and to spotlight the importance of
reading. Read Across America Day, the annual
celebration of reading! This even takes place on
Dr. Seuss's birthday, which is March 2nd.
Congratulations to Kamren Gilbard for
being the DARs State Winner for the Christopher
Columbus essay contest. Kamrens essay will now
go to the national judging arena. Congratulations
to her and APUSH teacher Mrs. Preising!

Our Navy recruiter will be in the College
Career Ctr, Mon, March 2, both lunches. Stop by
to see what the Navy stands for and what you
could be part of.
SCC Admissions Workshop for seniors!
Tues, March 3, 1000 am. SCC admissions will
help you complete your application. Sign-up on
Tue., March 3, all day at Zoyo on Northwest
corner of Tatum and Shea we are having a
fundraiser 25 of proceed go to our team. Please
mention you are there to support Chaparral Track
Field. They will have pizza and frozen yogurt.

Not sure what you want to do after
high school, sign up in the guidance office and
take the ASVAB test on Tue., March 3rd at 745 am
in J600. The ASVAB is the most widely used
multiple-aptitude test battery in the world.

As an aptitude test, the ASVAB measures
your strengths, weaknesses, and potential for
future success. The ASVAB also provides you with
career information for various occupations and is
an indicator for success.
University of Houston college visit! Wed,
March 4 _at_ 900 am. Learn about the many
prominent programs the UH offers! Sign-up on
The Honors College at the UofA will
present their unique program on Wed, March 4th _at_
1000 am. Learn about this highly competitive

Texas Tech University college visit Wed,
March 4 _at_ 1100 am. Texas Tech offers a
distinguished education in a college town and
provides generous scholarships. Sign-up on
The Arizona Alpha Nu chapter of Alpha
Delta Kappa, International Sorority of Women
Educators, is undertaking a charitable project of
donating gently used purses to a womens shelter
in the Phoenix area. If you have a gently used
purse that you would be willing to
donate, please send it to Mrs. Preising rm
D-210. Donations will be accepted until March
6th. Thank you for helping with this worthwhile
project. Many of these women have nothing to call
their own when they arrive at these shelters.
This is once sense of normality that we are
trying to restore.
Attention SeniorsA mandatory meeting
regarding graduation speech auditions will be
held March 17th and 18th in room D-113 before
school and during lunches (4th and 5th). The
quick meeting will take 2 minutes and
will give you all the information necessary
to try out to be one of the speakers during
graduation. All graduating seniors are
