2Importance of When the Church Began
- Matter of identityto distinguish it from the Old

3Church Foreshadowed in the Old Testament
- The church was NOT in existence in the Old
Testament days. - Old Testament worthies desired to see its era.
- Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and
searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace
that would come to you, searching what, or what
manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in
them was indicating when He testified beforehand
the sufferings of Christ and the glories that
would follow. To them it was revealed that, not
to themselves, but to us they were ministering
the things which now have been reported to you
through those who have preached the gospel to you
by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven--things which
angels desire to look into. 1 Peter
110-12
4Foreshadowed in Old Testament
- But Christ came as High Priest of the good
things to come, with the greater and more perfect
tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of
this creation. Hebrews 911

the things in the heavens should be purified with
these, but the heavenly things themselves with
better sacrifices than these. Hebrews 923

10Key Passage
- And in the days of these kings the God of heaven
will set up a kingdom which shall never be
destroyed and the kingdom shall not be left to
other people it shall break in pieces and
consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand
forever. Inasmuch as you saw that the stone was
cut out of the mountain without hands, and that
it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the
clay, the silver, and the gold-the great God has
made known to the king what will come to pass
after this. The dream is certain, and its
