FULL-DAY LEARNING
  • On January 12, 2010, Premier Dalton McGuinty
    announced the phasing in of full-day learning for
    four and five-year-olds beginning in September
    2010
  • Zone Township Central School was selected as one
    of the eight schools in the Lambton Kent District
    School Board to offer full-day learning

NEXT PHASE
  • On March 2, 2011 Premier McGuinty announced that
    in September 2012 900 more schools across Ontario
    will implement the Full-Day Kindergarten Early
    Learning Program
  • Locally The Lambton Kent District School Board
    will offer the program at three additional
    schools beginning September 2011

CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR
  • One combined class of 24 students
  • 15 Junior Kindergarten students
  • 9 Senior Kindergarten students

REGISTERED FOR THE 2011-12 SCHOOL YEAR
  • One combined class of 28 students
  • 13 Junior Kindergarten students
  • 15 Senior Kindergarten students

WHAT DOES IT INCLUDE?
  • Full-day learning during the regular school day
    for four and five year old children.
  • Teachers and registered Early Childhood Educators
    work together in the classroom to create a
    welcoming environment where children learn, play
    and grow.

BEFORE AFTER SCHOOL
  • Surveys were completed at registration and sent
    in.
  • If sufficient interest from parents, extended day
    programs, before and after regular school hours
    would be offered by Early Childhood Educators

  • Hours 700 900 a.m.
  • 330 600 p.m.
  • Cost and timing would be outlined if enough
    interest
  • Subsidies will continue to be accessible for
    those who qualify

  • School Entry Parent Questionnaire
  • Birth Verification Documentation
  • Immunization questionnaires for Community Health
    Services Dept.
  • (Parent to complete and return to Health Unit)

INDEPENDENCE
  • DRESSING
  • practice putting on shoes (Velcro), doing
  • up zippers, putting on snow pants etc. Your
    child needs 1 pair of shoes and a complete
    change of clothing to be left at the school.
  • FOOD
  • encourage healthy sugar-free food
  • send containers that are easy to open
  • Please dont forget the cutlery

SNACK PROGRAM
  • School Nutrition Snack Program
  • A School Snack program was implemented with the
    assistance of the Chatham-Kent Student Nutrition
    Program in November/2008.
  • Bins are packed and delivered to each classroom
    daily with nutritious snacks for any student who
    requires them.

SAFE ARRIVAL
  • Parents Responsibility to inform the school if
    their child is going to be absent or late.
  • Daily Attendance is collected in all classrooms.
  • (If arriving late or leaving prior to dismissal,
    please inform office)
  • Follow-up phone calls for students with
    unexplained absence are made immediately after
    915 a.m.

before calls to home are made.
A sibling cannot inform the school of a

SCHOOL START TIME
  • School begins 915 a.m.
  • Promptness (delivering child)
  • - front doors (JK SK students only)
  • Arrival after 915 a.m.
  • child MUST obtain late slip from office before
    entering class

SCHOOL DISMISSAL TIME
  • School Dismissal is 335 p.m.
  • A note or telephone call is required if your
    child is being picked up by someone not on your
    contact list

FIRST DAY VISITPARENT/CHILD INTERVIEW(15

  • parent and child arrive at classroom
  • meet the teacher
  • see the classroom
  • teacher discusses Parent Questionnaire previously
    completed at Registration

LETTERS
  • Parents/Guardians will receive a letter in the
    summer from the school indicating time of
    interview in September
  • Letters will be mailed to bus students in the
    summer (re pick-up and drop-off times) directly
    from the Transportation Department
