Title: Christmas 2007 Jesus Christ God Incarnate

1
Christmas 2007Jesus Christ- God Incarnate
  • 1 Timothy 314-16
  • Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is
    great

2
  • 1 Timothy 314-16
  • 14 Although I hope to come to you soon, I am
writing you these instructions so that, 15 if I
am delayed, you will know how people ought to
conduct themselves in God's household, which is
the church of the living God, the pillar and
foundation of the truth. 16 Beyond all question,
the mystery of godliness is great
  • He appeared in a body, was vindicated by the
Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among
the nations, was believed on in the world, was
    taken up in glory.

3
The Importance of the Incarnation of Christ
  • God incarnate is a matter practical necessity
  • In seeking to be relevant we often sacrifice the
deity of Christ or the humanity of Christ
  • 1 John 42-3 This is how you can recognize the
Spirit of God Every spirit that acknowledges
that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from
God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge
    Jesus is not from God.

4
The Purpose of the Incarnation of Christ
  • To reveal God to man
  • Revealed in the world He created
  • Reveal in Scriptures
  • Hebrews 11-3 In the past God spoke to our
forefathers through the prophets at many times
and in various ways, but in these last days He
has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed
heir of all things, and through whom He made the
    universe

5
The Purpose of the Incarnation of Christ
  • To redeem man from our sins
  • The attack on the incarnation is two fold
  • There is no sin nature that condemns us
  • He cannot secure salvation for ALL
  • Romans 518 Consequently, just as the result of
one trespass was condemnation for all men, so
also the result of one act of righteousness was
justification that brings life for all men.

6
The Purpose of the Incarnation of Christ
  • To complete Gods promises and purpose
  • We were created to rule Gods creation (Genesis
126 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our
image, in Our likeness, and let them rule)
  • Jesus had to be fully MAN to fulfill Gods
    purpose for man
  • And be fully GOD to fulfill the Scriptures

7
The Implications of the Incarnation of Christ
  • Man needs the intervention of God
  • 2 Corinthians 89 For you know the grace of our
Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet
for your sakes He became poor, so that you
through His poverty might become rich.
  • If the cure required such a drastic measure, then
    the ailment is severe.

8
The Implications of the Incarnation of Christ
  • Testifies of Gods love for man
  • Colossians 115-18 He is the image of the
invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
For by Him all things were created things in
heaven and on earth, visible and invisible,
whether thrones or powers or rulers or
authorities all things were created by Him and
for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all
    things hold together.

9
The Implications of the Incarnation of Christ
  • Colossians 118-20 And He is the head of the
body, the church He is the beginning and the
firstborn from among the dead, so that in
everything He might have the supremacy. For God
was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in
Him, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all
things, whether things on earth or things in
heaven, by making peace through His blood, shed
    on the cross.
  • The wood of the cradle is the same as the wood of
    the cross

10
The Implications of the Incarnation of Christ
  • Warns us of rejecting salvation in Christ
  • Hebrews 1026-28 If we deliberately keep on
sinning after we have received the knowledge of
the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but
only a fearful expectation of judgment and of
raging fire that will consume the enemies of
    God.

11
Joy to the World
  • Joy to the world! The Lord is come
  • Let earth receive her King
  • Let every heart prepare Him room,
  • And heaven and nature sing,
  • And heaven and nature sing,
  • And heaven, and heaven and nature sing.

12
  • Joy to the world! The Savior reigns
  • Let men their songs employ
  • While fields and floods,
  • rocks, hills and plains
  • Repeat the sounding joy,
  • Repeat the sounding joy,
  • Repeat, repeat the sounding joy.

13
  • No more let sins and sorrows grow,
  • Nor thorns infest the ground
  • He comes to make His blessing flow
  • Far as the curse is found,
  • Far as the curse is found,
  • Far as, far as the curse is found.

14
  • He rules the world with truth and grace,
  • And makes the nations prove
  • The glories of His righteousness,
  • And wonders of His love,
  • And wonders of His love,
  • And wonders, wonders of His love.
