the clavicle. Lateral Section - Acromion
process of the scapula Posterior Section

This is a Three- part muscle with anterior,
Lateral and posterior sections, originating from
the clavicle, acromion, and scapulae,
respectively, and inserting on the lateral
humerus.The Anterior section raise the arm
forward. The posterior section extends the arm
backward.The Lateral Section abducts the
arm.Tightness in the anterior section limits
posture in which the arm is extended backward,
such as purvottanasana.Tightness in the
Posterior section limits overhead movement such
as urdhava Danurasana and virabhadrasana I.
Tightness in the lateral section limits
postures involving cross-body movement, such as
Garuddasana.
