Reading
  • The Comprehension Toolkit
  • Focuses on reading as thinking
  • Builds skills and ability to use thinking
    strategies for increased comprehension
  • Supports time for shared reading, guided reading
    (small groups), independent reading, and
    collaborative discussion and sharing
  • Provides opportunities for students to read in a
    variety of genres including nonfiction.

Reading Homework
  • Students will begin bringing home a Home Reader
    and Reading Log every Tuesday and Thursday in
    about 3 weeks.
  • Students are to sit down with mom, dad,
    grandparents, older siblings, etc. with their
    Home Reader and read it by themselves or read it
    with you and then fill out the Reading Log. Then
    they are to return it the next day.
  • On the days that they dont come home with
    Reader, please just spend 10-15 minutes reading
    with your child a book from home, library, etc.
  • The best way to become a better reader, is to
    practice!
  • Show YOUR love for reading as well!

    and word-solving actions.

Math Homework
  • Students will bring a Homelink home in their Take
    Home Folder every day Monday-Thursday.
  • This is a great way to see what we did in math
    that day at school and to see how well your child
    understands.
  • Please help your child complete and return the
    next day for a homework check- when they have
    filled their chart, they will get a pencil!

  • You can check out MRB books only on a limited
    basis so we can keep better track of them. Of
    course if someone does not have internet access,
    going on a trip, etc you would be a great
    candidate for checkout. Please just let me know!
