Green Globe 21 in Kaikoura

• New Zealand Tourism Strategy recommended
  implementation of Green Globe 21 or a similar
  system.
• Green Globe 21 is the only system offering
  destination benchmarking and certification.
• Kaikoura District Council committed to being the
  third pilot study in the world in 2001.

Green Globe 21 Community Benchmarking

• Collection of data for 10 compulsory indicators.
• Optional indicators include a list provided by
  Green Globe 21 and those developed by the
  community.
• All data are collected for a 12month period and
  based on the geographical boundary of the lead
  agency.
• The lead agency in New Zealand is the Territorial
  Local Authority i.e. Kaikoura Distict Council.
