Title: May Allah bring peace upon you.
1May Allah bring peace upon you. In the following
presentation, you will see a few rare and current
pictures of Mecca.
2Mecca is a City in Saudi Arabia. A City where
nearly 2 Million Muslims converge once a year to
perform Hajj, which is one of the 5 principal
steps in claiming the ladder of spirituality. The
pilgrimage is a tradition set out by Prophet
Abraham, and continues through Prophet Muhammad
(pbuh). Muslims the world over, face towards
Mecca when they do their prayers. It creates
purposeful unity and a singular sense of
direction. Performance of Hajj is obligatory for
every Muslim at least once in their life time,
provided they have fulfilled their obligations to
their family, the neighbors and their community.
One feels a sense of devotement, a sense of
humility, when 2 million people around him or her
lose their identity and be a part of single
humanity. All of them wear two piece un-stitched
cloth and that really gives a sense of humility
God is great so they chant Alla hu Akbar.
3Imagine the chaos, if every one in a temple,
Church, synagogue or even in a class room sat
facing in different directions and each one
looked in multiple sides. A system is
developed in class rooms and all places of
worship, where the students and devotees face in
one direction. Take the concept further to have
people pray, the world over, facing in one
direction. For Muslims, Mecca is the focal point.
It creates purposeful unity and a singular sense
of direction. It is one of the most beautiful
things to pray in unison.

34Kaaba Is a Cube shape building. An object for
people to focus on. There is small stone, called
Aswad, which is set in one of the walls of Kaaba
( the cube). This precious stone was set by
Prophet Abraham as a marker. When the stone fell
off on the ground, there was a dispute among
several tribes towards the end of 5th Century AD
as to who will lift and place it back. Every one
wanted to have that privilege. The dispute was
squared off, when they asked Muhammad, the young
man who was known as the truthful and trustworthy
to settle it. Being the peacemaker he was, he
spread out a large piece of cloth and placed the
stone in it, and asked all members of the tribe
to hold the cloth and lift it in unison and
proceed towards the Cube His inclusiveness
stunned the Chiefs, but they liked the solution,
no one was excluded. Inclusiveness is a key
ingredient in creating a just society. And that
was the beginning of unity in diversity.
